Option 1: Courtyard walk:

This walk will take you through the most beautiful courtyards of Amsterdam. Particularly the Jordaan area is known for the many courtyards. These courtyards are a typical Dutch finding. They were built between the 14th and 18th century, as housing for the poor, or elderly people from a specific religion. There are still around 200 of these courtyards in the Netherlands, 47 of them are in the Jordaan area! Your guide will take you into the peace and quietness of these courtyards and tell you all about the founders, the architects and the people that lived there in the past and in the present. The famous Karthuizer courtyard and the Cleas Cleas courtyard are definitely included in this walk.

Option 3: Architecture Bike Tour:

Amsterdam has years of experience in “creating land”. Ever since the dam around the Amstel river was built in 1250, people in Amsterdam have been busy creating artificial islands. The city is called ‘Venice of The North’ for a reason! Our newest achievement is ‘IJburg’, a suburb of islands in the eastern part of Amsterdam. On 6 islands over 18.000 residences are being build! The islands are constructed by pouring a lot of sand in the water, like ‘The World project' in Dubai. You will find a lot of architectural hotspots here; modern family residences, floating houses, apartment buildings, offices and more. The bridges also play a big part on IJburg. There are nearly 60 bridges constructed to connect all the Islands! The tour takes about 2 to 3 hours. Most fun is to do this by bike, but by foot it’s just as beautiful (than we start on IJburg itself). Our guide will tell you about the buildings, architecture, planologic influences and history. Included in the tour is a short break for a drink in a nice café or typical Dutch bar.

Please note that this only possible for persons who are experienced bikers since Amsterdam is really busy with traffic.
